Out of the Darkness Raises Over $1.1 Million for Suicide Prevention & Awareness
Second National Walk for Suicide Prevention Planned for Summer 2004
The Foundation is pleased to report that net proceeds from the Out of the
Darkness walk have exceeded the $1.1 million mark as contributions continue to
come in. AFSP is using these proceeds to build on what you - the walkers and
sponsors - have begun.
The funds are currently being used to help educate teens and college students
about depression and suicide and about the importance of seeking help for
themselves or a friend. They are also being used to expand outreach and
communication to survivors of suicide through the creation of the AFSP Survivor
e-Network, which many of you have already signed up for.
The Foundation is in the initial planning stages for a second national walk
for suicide prevention. Please check the AFSP website in May for more details.
